ABOUT

“A young man finds himself in a mysterious hallway from which he cannot seem to escape. Worse yet, he’s already there…”

Dark Portrait was my first ever short film. It was created for the Foundations of Cinema class at Purdue. This was at the height of the COVID-19 era, so there were many restrictions in place that I had to follow. Only one location. No more than two actors. I had to get more creative for this one than I originally intended.

My goal was to create something that had a deeper meaning to it, while not making it obvious what the film itself means. To this day, I have never explained what the film is actually about.

In the end, I created a seven minute film that is very much inspired by my favorite directors (perhaps too inspired). For my first attempt at a short film as an adult, I think it turned out pretty good.
